Attention Physicians, Managers and Office Staff
The following possible scam has come to our attention from both AT&T and GTE communications, who have confirmed that it will work: An individual calls you home or office phone posing as a repairman or service technician, and advises that he/she is running a test of various phone lines. The caller requests that you press 9(nine), 0(zero) and the pound(#) sign; then hang up. DO NOT DO IT!!! We have been informed that by keying "90#" for the caller, you effectively give the calling party access to your phone line, which allows them to make long distance calls that are then billed to your home or office number.
